Upon arriving at Istanbul Airport, you will be warmly welcomed as your pilgrimage begins with a visit to Hagia Sophia—a breathtaking architectural marvel that has served as a church, a mosque, and now a museum, reflecting the layered history of Istanbul.
Next, explore Topkapi Palace, the former imperial residence of Ottoman sultans. Here, you will discover an impressive collection of porcelain, silverware, and exquisite jewelry, including the famed Spoonmaker's Diamond.
Your journey continues at the Hippodrome, once the vibrant center of Byzantine sports and political events, followed by a visit to the iconic Blue Mosque, celebrated for its stunning blue tiles and intricate frescoes.
Finally, after a day filled with magical Istanbul experiences, you will be transferred to your hotel to rest and recharge for the days ahead.Accommodation in Istanbul. No Meal Included for Today. -
DAY 2: Smyrna ( Izmir), Pergamum
After your flight to Izmir, your pilgrimage continues with a visit to Smyrna—a city steeped in profound historical and spiritual significance. Renowned for its humble, persecuted church that boldly refused to worship the Roman Emperor, Smyrna endured hardship amidst prosperity. It stands as the last bastion of Christianity in Asia Minor and is the home of the revered second-century Bishop Polycarp, who was martyred at 86.
From Smyrna, journey on to Pergamum, a site rich in history and biblical resonance. Explore its ancient acropolis and the awe-inspiring Great Theatre—renowned as the steepest of its kind. Pergamum is famously mentioned in Revelation 2:12-16 as "where Satan's seat is," alluding to the altar of Zeus; a moment here invites quiet reflection on the fulfillment of Scripture. Nearby, visit the Red Basilica, a former pagan temple that was later consecrated as a Christian church.
Conclude the day with a walk through the Asclepion, the renowned medical center of antiquity where ancient healing practices once flourished. After this enriching exploration, return to your hotel in Izmir for a restful overnight stay.-Breakfast and lunch are included. -Domestic flight to your next destination is included, along with comfortable transfers to and from the airport for a seamless travel experience. -Overnight accommodation in Izmir. -
DAY 3: Thyatira - Sardis- Philadelphia
Begin your day by setting out for Thyatira, a once-thriving trading center famed for its expertise in dyeing purple cloth. This ancient city, referenced in the Book of Revelation, is noted for its steadfast faith in the face of persecution by the false prophetess Jezebel (Rev. 1:11; 2:18-29), making it one of the revered Seven Churches of Revelation.
Continue your journey to Sardis, another of the Seven Churches, where the Lord declared, "I know thy works, that thou hast a name, that thou livest, and art dead" (Rev. 3:1-6). Sardis was a hub of ancient innovation—renowned as the birthplace of coin minting and wool dyeing. Here, marvel at historic landmarks including the grand Temple of Artemis, the white marble Royal Road, an impressive gymnasium, and an ancient synagogue, each echoing the city’s illustrious past.
Next, visit Philadelphia, further enriching the legacy of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 3:7-13). At this site, Christ promised that those who overcome would have "the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is New Jerusalem" (Rev. 3:12). Though few structures remain, you will observe an ancient wall and the remnants of a Byzantine Basilica, silent witnesses to a once-flourishing community.
Conclude the day with a reflective dinner and an overnight stay in Pamukkale, allowing you to absorb the spiritual and historical richness of your pilgrimage.-Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. -Overnight accommodation in Pamukkale. -
DAY 4: Hierapolis - Pamukkale - Laodicea
After breakfast at your hotel, begin your day with an exploration of Hierapolis—an ancient city once known for its pagan cults and later transformed through the evangelism of Paul and Epaphras. Deep spiritual significance envelops Hierapolis, where tradition holds that the Apostle Philip lived and was laid to rest. Often hailed as the "holy city," its fascinating ruins offer a glimpse into a sacred past.
Next, marvel at the natural wonder of Pamukkale, also known as the "Cotton Castle." Famous for its healing hot springs and cascading limestone terraces, this spa-like retreat has been a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation for centuries.
Continue your journey to Laodicea, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 3:14-22). Once admonished for being "lukewarm" in faith—"You are neither cold nor hot" (Rev. 3:15)—and for its blend of pagan and Christian practices, Laodicea now invites contemplation. In Revelation 3:20-21, Jesus extends a profound invitation to its followers, saying, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock..." As you wander through its sprawling ruins, including the ancient stadium, columned streets, and other recent archaeological discoveries, the city's rich history comes vividly to life.
Conclude the day with an overnight stay in Kusadasi, reflecting on the deep historical and spiritual insights gained on your pilgrimage.-Breakfast and lunch are included. -Overnight accommodation in Kusadasi. -
DAY 5: Ephesus
Begin your day with a journey to Ephesus, one of the Seven Churches of Revelation (Rev. 1:11) and an ancient city steeped in historical and spiritual significance. Once a thriving port of 250,000 people, Ephesus was famed for its grand colonnaded streets and bustling marketplace.
The Apostle Paul visited Ephesus twice—first briefly during his second missionary journey (Acts 18:19-21), and later for nearly three years on his third journey (Acts 19:1-20:31). The city is also noted for the worship of Artemis (Diana), as recounted in Acts 19:34-35, marking a defining aspect of its ancient religious life.
Wander through the Great Theatre, mentioned in Acts 19:29-31, which once seated 25,000 spectators and hosted lively events and debates. Stroll along marble-paved streets etched with the grooves of ancient chariot wheels, and marvel at iconic landmarks like the Fountain of Trajan, the Library of Celsus, and the impressive theatre itself.
Next, visit the Chapel of the Virgin Mary, also known as the Double Church—a significant site where the Third Ecumenical Council was held, deepening its religious importance. Continue to the Basilica of St. John on Ayasuluk Hill in Selcuk. Tradition holds that the disciple John, author of the Gospel of John and Revelation, is connected to Ephesus; a simple grave attributed to him was marked by a church as early as the 4th or 5th century. In the 6th century, Emperor Justinian built an impressive domed basilica over the earlier structure, turning it into a major pilgrimage destination.
Conclude your exploration with a visit to the Ephesus Archaeological Museum, where artifacts from the ancient city offer further insight into its rich heritage. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Kusadasi, reflecting on this remarkable journey through history and faith.-Breakfast and lunch are included. -Overnight accommodation in Kusadasi. -
